I graduated from Elon University in the Spring of 2021, with a BA in Journalism. I have continued my freelance journalism career doing everything from website design, to reporting/writing, to general digital media content. I joined the EM-POWERMENT movement in May of 2021 when Emily reached out to me through social media asking for feedback on her new blog. We were childhood and high school friends and I was excited to catch up. What began as an innocent phone call between old friends, turned into the next 11 months of zoom calls, deep conversations, idea-brewing, and eventually, a bigger goal: to share EM-POWERMENT with the world.

Over the last 11 months, Espo and I have shared difficult, exciting, hard moments of life with each other. But through EM-POWERMENT, we have helped empower each other.

My role encompasses a variety of things from the website design to brand communication. I have worked with Emily to create a logo, website, mission statement, and so much more that we can’t wait to share. In sharing her story with me, Emily has empowered me to continue sharing stories like hers that need to be heard. Will you share yours?

My name is Erin Esty and I graduated from Johnson & Wales University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion Merchandising and Retailing, with a specialization in Fashion Marketing and Visual Merchandising. My relationship with Emily Esposito started back in elementary school. We were in the same classes in school, and always playing on the same sports teams. From 6 years old to now, at 23, we have been like family.

When Emily asked me to help with creative direction and social media on EM-POWERMENT, I didn’t hesitate in saying yes. I’ve worked with Em to share marketing ideas, design, and edit photos, social media posts, and assist on photo shoots.

For the entire time I have known Emily, and through the EM-POWERMENT, I have looked up to her for all her courage and ambition. I am beyond proud of the women she has become, and even more proud of her for using her voice and story to help EM-POWER others.

EM-POWERMENT is truly an inspiring platform which I believe will help many former, present and future athletes for years to come. I am honored to be a part of building this movement and I cannot wait to see EM-POWERMENT thrive.
